Ex-Met inspector charged with series of sexual offences

A former Metropolitan Police inspector is set to appear in court tomorrow charged with 17 offences, including five counts of rape and misconduct in public office.

John Doyle, 53, who was previously attached to the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command (MO19), was charged by postal requisition on Wednesday 4th February. The charges follow a lengthy investigation into allegations involving a single victim over a 12-year period between 2012 and 2024.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the following charges against the former officer:
Doyle will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 11th February.

He was initially arrested on Monday 24th June 2024 and immediately suspended from duty.

On Tuesday 10th December 2024 he was dismissed from the Met at a hearing held in private due to the ongoing criminal proceedings.
