John Doyle, 53, who was previously attached to the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command (MO19), was charged by postal requisition on Wednesday 4th February. The charges follow a lengthy investigation into allegations involving a single victim over a 12-year period between 2012 and 2024.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the following charges against the former officer:
- Five counts of rape
- One count of assault by penetration
- Two counts of coercive and controlling behaviour
- Two counts of actual bodily harm
- Four counts of grievous bodily harm with intent
- Two counts of misconduct in public office
- One count of possession of extreme pornography.
He was initially arrested on Monday 24th June 2024 and immediately suspended from duty.
On Tuesday 10th December 2024 he was dismissed from the Met at a hearing held in private due to the ongoing criminal proceedings.
