Two west London artists are set to transform the Barley Mow Centre into a temporary gallery for one night only this March. The pop-up exhibition, featuring the works of Micheal Haran and Paul Mulvey, aims to bridge the gap between Chiswick and the Peruvian Amazon, raising vital funds for The Upper Room and The Peru Mission.
On Wednesday 25th March, the historic Barley Mow Centre will host a unique intersection of surrealism and post-impressionism. Between 18:00 and 21:00, visitors can explore a curated collection of works by two artists with deeply contrasting styles but a shared philanthropic goal.
The event is dedicated to supporting two distinct causes: The Upper Room, a west London charity based at St Saviour’s that supports the homeless and vulnerable, and The Peru Mission, which provides essential outreach and aid in Iquitos, Peru.
The artists
Micheal Haran
Brentford-based artist Micheal Haran brings a global perspective to the exhibition. A graduate of the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art, Haran’s work is a multi-disciplinary exploration of ‘DreamTime’ and surrealism. Having lived in Iquitos, Peru, for over two years, his canvases often feature biomorphic forms and abstracted landscapes that evoke the vivid, surreal nature of the Amazonian rainforest. His work serves as a bridge between his classical London training and the mystical, synthetic, and futurist influences gathered during his travels.
Paul Mulvey
For Paul Mulvey, this exhibition represents a significant personal milestone. A graphic designer and art director who spent two decades in the music festival industry, Mulvey’s return to painting was sparked by a profound encounter with Van Gogh’s work at the National Gallery in 2025.
Following that exhibition, Mulvey retraced Van Gogh’s footsteps through the South of France, an experience that radically altered his approach to colour and perception. His current work, based in his Portobello Road studio, operates as a ‘mnemonic device’—using colour and form not to capture a place as it is, but as it is felt and remembered. His influences range from the tonalities of Louis Valtat to the intimate interiors of Pierre Bonnard.
Event details The evening offers a rare opportunity for local residents to meet the artists and acquire original works while contributing to both local and international aid efforts.
