Brentford School for Girls shines during Women’s Week

Brentford School for Girls proudly celebrated its first Women’s Week this year, sure to become a vibrant annual tradition dedicated to empowerment, inspiration, and female achievement - culminating with International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March. This year’s theme, Gain to Give, shone a spotlight on growing stronger and then using that strength to help others.

Throughout the week, the school set up a variety of fun and inspiring activities designed to spark ambition, build confidence, and celebrate women’s contributions in all walks of life. Both pupils and staff took part in conversations and events that highlighted the impact women make in every field.

Women’s Week highlights:

• Monday: Welcome to Women’s Week
  Pupils started the week greeted by energising music at the school gates, building excitement and setting a joyful tone from the first bell.
  
  
• Tuesday: Guest Speaker Clare Balding
  Broadcaster and Author Clare Balding joined pupils in the theatre, sharing her story and practical advice on resilience and ambition. Her message: support each other, dream big and find the thing that inspires and excites you.
  
  
• Wednesday: Women’s Week Wall
  Lunchtime brought colour and creativity as pupils designed International Women’s Day plaques, brightening hallways and reminding everyone how giving back can unite and inspire.
  
  
• Friday: Trip to Sky Production Studios
  The week wrapped with Year 10’s exciting visit to Sky Production Studios. Pupils got a behind-the-scenes look at TV production, tried hands-on workshops, and left imagining bright futures in media and beyond.

Teachers also wove Women’s Week themes into lessons, highlighting inspiring women in different subjects and encouraging conversations about gender equality. A special tutor session, focused on International Women’s Day, brought everyone together to reflect and share. Brentford School for Girls say they loved hosting this special week and remains dedicated to nurturing confident, kind, and ambitious young women—the leaders and changemakers of tomorrow. With Gain to Give as their motto, pupils are encouraged to succeed and then share their strengths to improve the world for everyone.
