Hounslow Council has launched a suite of free video resources to help young people aged 16 to 25 navigate the transition into work, study, and training.
The initiative, launched to mark National Careers Week, is designed to raise awareness of local opportunities and clear pathways for young people, their families, and carers. The videos are now available to stream on the
council’s official YouTube channel.
What the resources cover:- Current and upcoming career opportunities, alternative pathways, and training programmes, including apprenticeships and volunteering
- Insights and information on business sectors and industries
- Tips and guidance on applications.
The videos feature the council’s support and services teams, including Hounslow Connexions, Work Hounslow, DFN Project SEARCH Supported Internship programmes, alongside employers, partner organisations and colleges such as Healthy in Your Own Skin General Practice (GP), M.I.T. Skills, Ealing and Hounslow Community Voluntary Service (EHCVS), West Thames College and many others. Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment at Hounslow Council, said: “We’re working closely with partners and employers to identify meaningful opportunities available for young people. Our younger generation increasingly use videos to search for and explore opportunities. We believe these resources will be a valuable way to reach out to them, empowering them with careers information and the confidence they need to build a thriving future, while inspiring them to realise their limitless potential.” The resources have been specifically tailored for those not currently in education, employment, or training (NEET), as well as young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and those with experience of care. The videos will be regularly updated to reflect new local vacancies and training schemes. Andrew Bernard, Director of National Careers Week, said: “National Careers Week is a national celebration of opportunity, helping young people understand the full range of pathways available to them. We’re thrilled to see Hounslow Council has been leading the way in using national awareness weeks to promote careers and connect local employers, training providers and educators with young people.” Those who prefer face-to-face guidance, can attend
Connexions drop-in sessions to explore their next steps with careers advisors. The drop-ins will take place every Tuesday, from 3pm to 5pm at Hounslow Community Hub and Library.
