A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed without notice after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman at a pub.

PC Jason Capery was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour at a misconduct hearing on Tuesday 10th March.

The panel heard that PC Capery, of the Central West Basic Command Unit, acted inappropriately towards a woman who was known to him while off duty at a pub in Marylebone.

On Wednesday 4th February, Capery pleaded guilty to sexual assault by touching at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

On Friday 6th March he was sentenced to a 12-month community order and was made to pay court fees of Β£199.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, who leads policing in central west London, said: β€˜β€˜The actions of PC Capery fell well below the standards expected for a serving police officer.

β€˜β€˜Women deserve to feel safe in London. It is imperative that our officers maintain high standards at all times and there is no place for inappropriate behaviour within the Met.

β€˜β€˜We are working hard to make sure anyone who does not reach these standards is removed from the force.’’
