Forty people evacuated as West Ealing balcony fire erupts

Hounslow Herald · 13 Mar 2026, 08:00

Around 40 residents fled a 13-storey building in West Ealing yesterday morning after an accidental fire broke out on a fourth-floor balcony.

Six fire engines and dozens of firefighters from Acton, Southall, Heston, and surrounding stations rushed to The Avenue to tackle the blaze. The balcony was almost completely destroyed and part of a flat was also damaged, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The London Fire Brigade, who were called at 11:02 and brought the fire under control by 12:33, believe the fire was caused by the unsafe disposal of smoking materials.
