Around 40 firefighters were called to a serious house fire on Carlisle Avenue in East Acton yesterday afternoon (24/03). The ground floor of the two-storey property was destroyed, with one woman taken to hospital for smoke inhalation. While crews managed to rescue a kitten from the blaze, two cats sadly died at the scene.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) received the first of four emergency calls at 3:05pm. Control officers mobilised six fire engines and crews from Hammersmith, North Kensington, Willesden, Chiswick, and Wembley stations to the scene.

Firefighters worked for over an hour and a half to contain the blaze, which severely damaged the ground floor and parts of the first floor. One woman managed to leave the property before the Brigade arrived and was treated by the London Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation.

The fire was fully extinguished by 4:41pm. The cause of the blaze is currently recorded as undetermined.
