Swoops by Hammersmith & Fulham Council officers on four Uxbridge Road businesses recently led to the seizure of dangerous beauty products.
‘‘Check before you buy, as dangerous, untraceable products put people at risk,’’ said H&F Trading Standards Lead Denise Power, after her team confiscated a mountain of illegal goods from shops which had already been warned to clean up their act.
More than 1,000 illegal items were seized in the Uxbridge Road visits in late March.
These include lightening creams, soaps and henna dyes containing hydroquinone and clobetasol propionate, which are prescription-only and can cause allergic reactions.
The confiscated products also carried no official information about health risks.
